The 19th meeting of the Global AI/ML FP&A Committee, which took place on May 24th, 2023, featured a presentation titled "Expanding the use of AI in FP&A beyond quantitative analysis", delivered by Thorsteinn Siglaugsson, a Logical Thinking Process Expert.
During the presentation, Thorsteinn Siglaugsson covered various topics, including AI/ML in quantitative models and their limitations. He also highlighted the significance of logical qualitative analysis in FP&A and discussed the use of natural language models for faster analysis.
Thorsteinn demonstrated the implementation of AI in qualitative analysis through two examples: using a Current Reality Tree to uncover hidden root causes and employing a Future Reality Tree to test projects or strategic plans logically before implementation.
The Global Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning FP&A Committee was created in March 2018 with the aim to see how the latest developments in those technologies can influence modern Financial Planning and Analytics. More information about its previous meetings and members can be found here.
