On the 7th of March, San Francisco welcomed the International FP&A Board members first time this year. This event signified the start of North American FP&A Board meetings scheduled for 2023.
We have launched a new series of discussions dedicated to building the best-in-class FP&A teams in European chapters, and now several cities in the USA are taking the baton.
"Mission and Third" location in the city centre welcomed 38 senior finance professionals from leading organisations, such as Amazon, Flex, Genentech, Gensler, Kaiser Permanente, Yelp and many others.
Larysa Melnychuk facilitated the discussion. The meeting agenda included deep-diving into the crucial FP&A team roles outlined below and the growing importance of skills for FP&A professionals:
- FP&A Architect
- FP&A Analyst
- FP&A Data Scientist
- FP&A Influencer
- FP&A Storyteller
Except for these five roles, the International FP&A Board touched upon the emergence of two other roles – FP&A Interpreter and FP&A Connector. Their functions are outlined in the picture below.

After the initial speech delivered by Larysa, the audience heard Glenn Snyder's, VP FP&A at Mobileum, insights on the subject.

Then the forum worked in small groups and had a chance to discuss the three areas for effective FP&A Teams, namely:
- Leadership
- Functional Skills
