FP&A analytical transformation has been dominating headlines for some time. In the last decade, finance, and FP&A in particular, embarked on a journey from descriptive to prescriptive analytics. True digital transformation integrates technology, data, and new processes across the entire corporation.

At the first Digital North American FP&A Board, a panel of senior speakers shared their views on how their companies and teams are approaching the FP&A transformation task.

Larysa Melnychuk

Larysa Melnychuk is a passionate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) professional and influencer who has held senior FP&A roles at leading organisations before setting up the International FP&A Board in 2013. The Board is a global and well-recognised professional think-tank that aims to bring together the knowledge and experience of senior FP&A professionals and aid the development of best practice in the profession.

In the last three years, she successfully expanded the Board into 27 chapters in 16 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and North America.

Larysa is also the founder and CEO at the FP&A Trends Group (fpa-trends.com), the leading online resource for FP&A professionals. She chairs the Global AI FP&A Committee and runs a number of high-profile initiatives in the area of modern financial analytics.

Larysa holds a Master of Science degree in physics of materials and is a qualified chartered management accountant (CIMA), chartered global management accountant (CGMA) and is a holder of an FP&A certification. She is also a member of the exam content writing team for the Association of Finance Professionals (AFP) FP&A certification.

Larysa is also a passionate conference speaker and writes articles on various FP&A-related subjects.

Fernando Schreiner

Experienced leader of Financial Planning & Analysis with 30 years' experience with a demonstrated history of working in the architecture & planning, legal and technology industries. Skilled in Cash Flow, Business Planning, Analytical Skills, Team Building, and Professional Services. Excellent background in internal control assessment, finance decision support, and FP&A. Ability to direct complex projects from concept to fully operational status. Goal-oriented individual with strong leadership capabilities. Organized, highly motivated, and detail-directed problem solver. Effectively manages teams across functional, geographic and organizational boundaries.

Paul McDonald

Senior Executive Director, Robert Half

Paul McDonald is senior executive director at Robert Half, which specializes in the placement of professionals in the accounting and finance, technology, legal, creative, and administrative fields. He writes and speaks frequently on hiring, workplace and career management topics. Over the course of more than 30 years in the recruiting field, McDonald has advised thousands of company leaders and job seekers on how to hire and get hired.

McDonald joined Robert Half in 1984 as a recruiter for financial and accounting professionals in Boston, following a public accounting career with Price Waterhouse. In the 1990s, he became president of the Western United States overseeing all of the company’s operations in the region. McDonald became senior executive director of Robert Half Management Resources in 2000, and assumed his current role in 2012.

Sumit Dangi

CFO & Treasurer

Sumit Dangi is the Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer at Jewelers Mutual Group. He has led cross-functional teams for over 20 years in countries spanning Asia, North America and Europe. Sumit came to JM Group from HSBC Global where he was their SVP and CFO, Global Data & Analytics. Prior to HSBC, Sumit worked with Huron Consulting, KPMG & Procter & Gamble in a variety of finance roles covering valuation, strategy, and optimization. Sumit is a graduate of University of Mumbai, and received his MBA from University of Maryland. Additionally, Sumit is a Chartered Accountant ranking consistently in the top 99% percentile across peers.

Valerie Martin

Valerie is a proven financial leader and trusted partner with extensive experience in supporting executives and teams through digital and business model transformation. She has a specific expertise and deep experience with sales teams, marketing teams, in go to market readiness, channel and partnership programs and building new processes and teams.

She leverages her expertise and pragmatic way of thinking to develop financial budgets and performance forecasts, that enables excellent business results.

As a change agent, she leverages strong business partnering, analytical, financial, and strategic skills to develop individuals and teams. Valerie is passionate about advising leaders to make informed decisions, problem solving, and developing talent

Chris Chan

Chris Chan is a FP&A Technology thought leader that examines the intersection of planning & analysis and technology. He conducts extensive research on the cutting edge trends in FP&A such as predictive planning and helps enterprise businesses realize the true value of technology. Throughout the years at SAP he has worked together with many planning teams in the fortune 100 and has seen the analytical transformation first hand. Looking forward in to the future, he is excited to share his knowledge and experience of FP&A transformation.
